Question on ensuring international school places available to foreign families by KP Chan:
The availability of international school places is a major consideration for families that need to decide whether to come to HK for work. The Secretary states that 5000 additional international school places would be available in the coming few years. Since local students also apply to these schools, the chances of foreign children getting in are slim. Does the Government have an overall plan to ensure that sufficient international school places are available for families that plan to work in HK?
The Secretary for Education said that the Government has close contact with the business communities and associations and will ensure sufficient international school places are available.
